MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR COURSE REDESIGN UNDERWAY AT ORANGE LAKE RESORT & COUNTRY CLUB Courtesy Orange Lake Resort & Country Club
ORLANDO, FLORIDA - April 19, 2005 - Orange Lake Resort & Country Club, the world's largest single-site vacation ownership resort, is working on a multi-million dollar redesign of its 20-year-old, 27-hole Resort Course that will give the 1,200-acre golf resort a total of four courses golfers in Central Florida can enjoy.
The Resort Course, designed by course architect Joe Lee in 1982, was the resort's first course, around which its first vacation villas were built. Its redesign was done by course architect Mike Dasher of Dasher Golf Design, who created over 40 courses as part of the Arthur Hills design team prior to starting his own firm in 1997.
The original 27-hole course is being reconstructed into two separate courses-a beautiful new 9-hole, Par 30 executive course, Crane's Bend, which opened last May, and an 18-hole course that winds gracefully through the expansive property and is scheduled to open in Fall, 2005.
The centerpiece of Orange Lake's golf experience is its 18-hole championship course, The Legends at Orange Lake, designed by Arnold Palmer and Palmer Course Design. Also Palmer-designed is the resort's 9-hole, Par 3 Legends Walk walking course, lighted for nighttime play. Both courses pay tribute to golf legend Palmer and to Orange Lake founder Kemmons Wilson, the international business genius who also built the worldwide Holiday InnĀ® lodging chain.
