Championsgate Father/Son Tournament

Nicklaus, Palmer and Vijay accept Invitations to Play in Office Depot Father/Son Challenge, at ChampionsGate Golf Club, December 2-5, 2004. Now they can start thinking of another special weekend in December, when they can compete for a second time in this spectacular event.

It will be the 10th annual edition of the event, which is on of the favorites of the year for all of the fathers and sons invited to participate during the holiday season. In order to be eligible, all of the fathers must have won a major championship on the PGA TOUR.

The teams will play for the prestigious Willie Park Trophy, replica belts named in honor of the winner of the first British Open in 1860, in addition to a $1 million purse

Hale and Steve Irwin are the defending champions of the Office Depot Father/Son Challenge. They won by a single stroke last year over Jack and Jack Nicklaus.

Tournament activities for the Office Depot Father/Son Challenge begin with a two-day pro-am on Thursday, Dec. 2 and Friday, Dec. 3. The 36-hole event played under a scramble format, will be Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5. NBC will televise the event on both days.
